Key Scriptures: John 11:1–44 | 1 Kings 17:8–16 | Job 14:7–9

There are moments in life when you are not simply tired. You have reached the place where everything around you seems to say, “It is over.”

The marriage looks finished.

The family seems divided beyond repair.

The business has run out of options.

The opportunity has disappeared.

The calling feels buried.

The relationship has gone cold.

The money has dried up.

You have prayed, waited, believed and tried again, but nothing appears to be changing.

I came with a simple word of faith:

Don’t give up. It’s not over.

What looks final to you may only be the environment God is about to use to reveal another dimension of His power.

WHEN JESUS ARRIVED, LAZARUS WAS ALREADY DEAD

In John 11, Lazarus became sick.

Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus because they believed Jesus could heal him.

But Jesus did something difficult to understand.

He did not immediately come.

By the time Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been dead for four days.

Martha said:

“Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”

John 11:21

In other words:

“Jesus, You came too late.”

That is where some people are today.

You still believe in God, but somewhere inside you are asking:

“Lord, why didn’t You intervene earlier?”

“Why did You allow the situation to deteriorate?”

“Why did You allow the relationship to get this bad?”

“Why did You allow the business to reach this point?”

“Why did You allow the door to close?”

“Why did You allow me to lose what I thought You gave me?”

But Jesus was not intimidated by the four days.

He was not intimidated by the grave.

He was not intimidated by the smell.

He was not intimidated by everybody’s conclusion.

Jesus said:

“Your brother will rise again.”

And I believe somebody needs to hear that word today.

It will rise again.

Your hope will rise again.

Your family will rise again.

Your vision will rise again.

Your confidence will rise again.

Your prayer life will rise again.

Your creativity will rise again.

Your ministry will rise again.

Your ability to dream will rise again.

WHAT YOU CALL A GRAVE, GOD MAY CALL A PLATFORM

Everybody standing around Lazarus’ tomb saw a burial place.

Jesus saw a place for manifestation.

Sometimes we become discouraged because we are interpreting our situation from what we can currently see.

But God sees further.

You see a closed door.

God sees redirection.

You see rejection.

God sees protection.

You see an ending.

God sees preparation.

You see a grave.

God sees somewhere to demonstrate resurrection power.

Jesus said:

“Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”

John 11:40

Notice He did not say you would understand everything.

He said believe.

Faith does not mean denying what has happened.

Lazarus was genuinely dead.

Faith does not pretend there is no problem.

Faith looks directly at an impossible situation and still says:

God has the final word.

MOVE THE STONE

Before Jesus called Lazarus out, He gave the people an instruction:

“Take away the stone.”

There are things only God can do, and there are things God expects us to do.

You cannot raise Lazarus.

But you can move the stone.

You cannot perform the miracle.

But you can obey the instruction.

Maybe the stone in your family is pride.

Move it.

Maybe the stone in your relationship is unforgiveness.

Move it.

Maybe the stone in your business is an outdated strategy.

Move it.

Maybe the stone around your calling is fear.

Move it.

Maybe the stone is procrastination.

Maybe it is disappointment.

Maybe it is bitterness because something did not happen when you expected it to happen.

Do what is within your power and trust God with what is beyond your power.

THE WIDOW WHO THOUGHT SHE WAS PREPARING HER LAST MEAL

Now look at another woman who reached what appeared to be the end.

In 1 Kings 17, Elijah met a widow gathering sticks.

He asked her for water and then asked her for bread.

Her answer revealed the seriousness of her condition:

“I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse… that we may eat it, and die.”

1 Kings 17:12

She had already accepted an ending.

One final meal.

Then death.

But while she was preparing for the end, God was preparing provision.

This is important.

Sometimes God will speak to you when your resources are almost finished.

Not because God wants to destroy you, but because He wants your confidence moved away from what is in the container and placed upon the One who fills the container.

The widow saw the last handful.

Elijah saw a miracle waiting for obedience.

YOUR LAST DOES NOT HAVE TO BE YOUR END

Elijah told her:

“Fear not.”

1 Kings 17:13

That is the first battle when you reach the end of your resources.

Fear begins speaking.

“What if nothing changes?”

“What if I lose everything?”

“What if nobody calls?”

“What if the relationship never improves?”

“What if the business doesn’t recover?”

“What if my ministry never grows?”

“What if I missed my opportunity?”

But the word of the Lord is:

Fear not.

The widow obeyed the word of God.

And Scripture says:

“The barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail.”

1 Kings 17:16

Her provision did not come through abundance first.

It came through obedience.

She woke up every day without seeing a warehouse filled with flour.

She simply discovered that every time she needed something, there was still enough.

That is grace.

Grace does not always give you everything for the next ten years at once.

Sometimes grace says:

“Come back tomorrow. There will still be something in the barrel.”

TO THE FAMILY THAT FEELS EXHAUSTED

Perhaps your home has been through conflict.

Communication has broken down.

Children are going in directions you never expected.

There has been disappointment, financial pressure or years of unresolved pain.

Don’t pronounce death over your family while God is still working.

Lazarus was in the tomb, but Jesus was on His way.

Continue praying.

Continue loving.

Continue speaking life.

Continue creating opportunities for reconciliation where it is healthy and appropriate.

The situation may be difficult, but difficulty is not the same as finality.

God can still write another chapter.

TO RELATIONSHIPS

Some relationships need restoration.

Others need wisdom, boundaries and truth.

Faith does not require you to remain in abuse, manipulation or destructive behaviour.

But where there is genuine repentance, humility and willingness to rebuild, don’t underestimate what God can restore.

God can soften hearts.

God can heal wounds.

God can restore trust through truth and consistent change.

God can reconnect people who thought they would never speak again.

What has been broken for years can still encounter grace.

TO THE PERSON WITH A CALLING

Maybe God spoke to you years ago.

You were excited.

You started.

Then life happened.

Disappointment came.

People left.

Doors closed.

Your confidence disappeared.

And now your assignment feels like Lazarus behind the stone.

Hear this:

A delayed manifestation does not automatically mean a cancelled calling.

Paul told Timothy:

“Stir up the gift of God, which is in thee.”

2 Timothy 1:6

There are gifts that need to be stirred again.

Dreams that need to be revisited.

Instructions that need to be obeyed again.

Prayers that need to be prayed again.

You may have stopped believing in yourself, but the grace God placed upon your life has not lost its purpose.

Go back before God.

Ask Him for fresh instructions.

Move the stone.

And when He says come forth, come out of hiding.

TO MARKETPLACE PEOPLE, ENTREPRENEURS AND BUSINESS OWNERS

Perhaps the numbers are frightening.

Sales have slowed.

Contracts disappeared.

A partnership failed.

An investment went wrong.

Cash flow is under pressure.

Something that once looked promising suddenly looks impossible.

Do not confuse one difficult season with the end of your story.

The widow’s barrel looked almost empty, but God had already arranged a word that would change her economic reality.

Your breakthrough may come through an idea.

A conversation.

A new relationship.

A restructuring.

A client.

A product.

A strategy you previously overlooked.

A door you never expected.

Pray, but also listen.

God often answers marketplace prayers with wisdom, strategy, relationships and opportunity.

The next instruction may be more valuable than the resources you currently possess.

AT THE SCENT OF WATER

Job gives us one of the strongest pictures of hope:

“For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again… Through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.”

Job 14:7–9

Look at that language.

The tree has been cut down.

Its roots have grown old.

Everything suggests that life has finished.

But then something happens.

It catches the scent of water.

Not even a flood.

Not a river surrounding it.

Just the scent of water.

And something inside the tree remembers:

I still have life in me.

I prophesy over every area of your life that appears cut down:

At the scent of God’s presence, you will sprout again.

At the scent of fresh opportunity, hope will return.

At the scent of revelation, your calling will awaken.

At the scent of divine wisdom, your business will find direction.

At the scent of reconciliation, relationships will begin healing.

At the scent of God’s grace, things that looked dead will begin responding again.

There is still life in the root.

GOD IS NOT INTIMIDATED BY YOUR “TOO LATE”

Lazarus was four days dead.

The widow was preparing her last meal.

The tree in Job had already been cut down.

Every story carries the same message:

Human endings do not limit God’s possibilities.

There are moments when God allows human strength to reach its limit so that we understand where our help truly comes from.

And often, when we have exhausted our own answers, we become more able to recognise His intervention.

So don’t give up because you cannot currently see the solution.

Don’t bury what God has not finished with.

Don’t call the last chapter what God calls a turning point.

Don’t allow today’s condition to become tomorrow’s prophecy.

Jesus is still saying:

“Lazarus, come forth.”

The word of God is still saying:

“The barrel shall not waste.”

And the Spirit is still saying:

“At the scent of water, it shall sprout again.”

YOUR STORY IS STILL BEING WRITTEN

Maybe you are standing beside something you thought would have changed by now.

Stand in faith.

Maybe all you have left is a handful of flour.

Obey God with what remains.

Maybe you feel like a tree that has been cut down.

Stay near the water.

Because it is not over simply because it looks over.

Don’t give up.

Keep praying.

Keep believing.

Keep obeying.

Keep listening.

Keep moving.

There is still another instruction.

There is still another opportunity.

There is still another chapter.

There is still grace for this journey.

DON’T GIVE UP. IT’S NOT OVER.

PROPHETIC PRAYER OF FAITH

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for everyone standing before an impossible situation.

Where hope has died, let hope rise again.

Where families have been divided, release wisdom, healing and reconciliation.

Where relationships have been wounded, bring truth, repentance, restoration and peace.

Where businesses have struggled, release fresh ideas, divine strategies, profitable opportunities and the right relationships.

Where resources have become small like the widow’s handful of flour, let there be supernatural provision and uncommon wisdom.

Where callings have become dormant, breathe upon them again.

Every gift buried underneath disappointment, come alive again.

Every God-given vision that has been surrounded by impossibility, receive fresh life.

Every Lazarus situation, hear the voice of the Lord:

COME FORTH!

I declare that the stone of fear is moving.

The stone of disappointment is moving.

The stone of delay is moving.

The stone of unbelief is moving.

I declare according to Job 14 that at the scent of water, you will sprout again.

Your family will see grace again.

Your home will experience peace again.

Your hands will prosper in righteous work again.

Your voice will carry influence again.

Your calling will burn again.

Your faith will rise again.

Where you thought you had reached your last, may God reveal Himself as your source.

Where you thought the story had ended, may God introduce another chapter.

Where men have said, “It is finished,” may heaven reveal, “I am not finished yet.”

May the resurrection power of Jesus invade every place where death, disappointment and hopelessness have tried to settle.

I declare:

You will not give up.

You will not die at the edge of your promise.

You will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

You will testify that when everything looked over, God showed up.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
